When you improve the quality of your conversations, connecting with people becomes second nature, problems solve themselves, and doors fly open for you.
Plan, practice, and role-play before a tough conversation.
In real life, you only get one take. If you blow your lines or miss your cues, there’s no post-production editing team to smooth it all out. So, if you know you have a high-stakes conversation coming up, you should absolutely prepare for it in advance. One method that might be useful is role-playing your lines. This doesn’t mean you have to act the conversation out in front of the mirror, but you should at least run through the potential arguments and counterarguments in your head. You’ll sound far more confident and authoritative during the real event if you’re not stumbling over your words.
